STATEMENT FROM THE MAYOR AND POCOMOKE CITY COUNCIL

REGARDING THE SELECTED SITE FOR THE NEW LIBRARY

Last week, the Worcester County Commissioner’s, at the request of the Library Board of Trustees, unanimously voted to relocate the site of the new library from the former armory to the current library location. The decision to relocate the project was not at the request of the Mayor and Pocomoke City Council.

Start Date: April 3, 2023, Payne Avenue at Market Street, weather permitting.

Description of Work Activities:

Pocomoke City has contracted with M2 Construction LLC to perform upgrades to pumping stations located at the above locations.

§ C-19- Appointment of City Manager

Extends the wait period that a former elected official can serve in a position from one year to three years.

§ C-21- Salary of Manager

Removes the annual increase or decrease requirement.

§ C-22- Removal of Manager

Makes the Manager at will by a majority vote.

§ C-23- City Manager Powers and Duties

The City Manager and Dept. Head can hire or fire an employee. Only the Council can hire or fire a Dept Head.

§ C-66- City Attorney

The Council hires or fires the City Attorney.

The daily trash collection schedule is east of Market St. (Tues. & Fri.); west of Market St. (Mon. & Thurs.). Daily trash pickup changes during Holiday closings for 2023 will be printed on the monthly water bills and posted on the holiday schedule for the year below.  Trash Collection Schedule: Trash must be placed at the curbside by 7:00 a.m. on collection days. If you have questions regarding the trash or bulk trash pick-up schedule, please call City Hall at 410-957-2521.
