"The friendliest town on the Eastern Shore"

Worcester County and Pocomoke City "Go Purple"

Worcester County will kick off National Recovery Month by “going purple.” In September, organizers of Worcester Goes Purple will launch a month-long campaign to promote conversations on substance abuse. Worcester Goes Purple is an initiative supported by Worcester County Public Schools, Worcester County Health Department and Atlantic General Hospital. This observance celebrates the millions of Americans who are in recovery from mental and substance use disorders, reminding us that treatment is effective and that people can and do recover. It also serves to help reduce the stigma and misconceptions that cloud public understanding of mental and substance use disorders, potentially discouraging others from seeking help. At the request of Worcester County, Pocomoke Mayor, Bruce Morrison, signed a proclamation to recognize and participate in Worcester Goes Purple initiative. The City has turned the water in the downtown fountain purple!
