Maryland Department of Natural Resources Waterways Improvement Fund (WIF) grant

A public hearing will be held to receive public comment on the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Waterways Improvement Fund (WIF) grant awarded for a proposed marina. This is a $363,000 grant with a requirement for $363,000 in matching funds. The meeting will cover the permitting process, proposed location, and grant requirements.  This Waterways Improvement Fund grant expires 6/30/22.

This hearing will be held on Monday July 1, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, at City Hall, 101 Clarke Ave. Pocomoke City, MD.

Public Hearing on city manager removal to be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 6:00PM at Pocomoke Middle School located at 800 8th St, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.  Please note; members of the public who wish to speak must sign in upon entrance before the meeting begins and will be subject to reasonable time limitations.

The City of Pocomoke will host Kelly Fleming of Moody Graham, the architecture firm awarded the contract for the Chesapeake Bay Trust grant for the Green Infrastructure Plan, for a community meeting June 17, 2019 at 5:30 pm at City Hall.  Ms. Fleming will provide an overview of the Green Infrastructure Plan. The Green Infrastructure Plan and the meetings led by Kelly Fleming are fully funded by the Chesapeake Bay Trust.  

The meeting will give an update on the Green Infrastructure Plan which recommended consideration for the following projects:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF POCOMOKE CITY ORDAINING AND ESTABLISHING THE BUDGET AND LEVY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2020, BEGINNING JULY 1, 2019 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2020.”

This hearing will be held on Thursday, June 20 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, at City Hall, 101 Clarke Ave. Pocomoke City, MD.

The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comment on proposed Ordinance No. 446.  A fair summary of the proposed ordinance is as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF POCOMOKE CITY ORDAINING AND ESTABLISHING THE VARIOUS FEES AND CHARGES FOR CERTAIN CITY SERVICES UNDER THE “CODE OF POCOMOKE CITY.”

AN ACT to establish the Fee Schedule for Fiscal Year 2020

MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF POCOMOKE CITY

The Pocomoke City Council has determined that the Pocomoke City Charter should be updated to remove inconsistencies and outdated language and to improve the ability of the City Council to govern the City;

The Maryland Code, Local Gov’t Art. § 4-301 et seq. authorizes the Council to amend its Charter through a resolution and appropriate notice to the public.

On June 3rd, 2019, the Pocomoke City Council adopted a resolution changing its charter and the changes are summarized below.
